  • Are the Star Wars movies overrated?

I was watching The Force Awakens today and it struck me that the rewatchability value of this film is really low. The choice to cast a Bringer-like emo as the villain was disastrous.

And going back through all the other movies in the franchise they are generally full of bad acting and weak storytelling.

How did the SW universe ever become so popular?

    Hell no..

The original trilogy is the bomb...

    Prequels are ok

Force awakens was good not great..

But it's the single most impactful movie in history..

Just look at all the pop culture references over the past few decades
    People talk like yoda
    Luke, I'm your father
    Princess Leia in bikini
    Light sabers
    The force be with you
    Use the force
    Jedi
    Death Star
    Darth vader
    Jabba the Hutt

People who haven't even seen the movies, know these things...

The original three were some of the best movies ever. The prequels were overrated. Not terrible, I just couldn't get into them.

The Force Awakens was fun to watch, but I have little to no interest in watching it again.

I thought The Force Awakens was the worst of them all. Near the end of the movie I getting bored and wondered when it was going to end.

Most of the fans of these movies were kids when they first came out.

Also when these movies first came out the special effects were so good they were worth watching for that reason alone. Especially when done on a big screen.

its a matter of tastes. for its time, it was truly the standard. the fx and acting were great and theres a reason the 1st 3 stand the tests of time.

these added sequels are trying to appease the mtv/selfie gen with all of these pretty cardboard standees they have ''acting'' in them.
