Yes, I know that the power of a hand strike begins with a push of the legs and rotation of the body, followed by the transfer of body weight. But if your hand is weak, the loss of impact force will be in the wrist and elbow. English is not my native language so sorry

Ber makes some solid points here.

        You’re rear delts (shoulder muscles)
        especially.
Additionally working on strengthening exercises like a medicine ball etc all contribute to maximising your power.
Fighttips on YouTube has some great videos on ways to improve your strength - it’s not as simple as some suggest.
Your body is like the handle of a whip, with your arms being the end of the lash.
As you might already know, an effective punch depends on good balance, breathing, positioning followed by leverage.
Arturo Gatti and Julian Jackson are excellent examples of fighters who used their entire body as leverage.
For building strength for power punching this is the best advice I read so far.

Thats not a correct statement at all..
Vicious punchers like Hearns and Kovalev both never knew their power potential before going pro and learning the skill of getting max weight and velocity behind their punches Kovalev almost didn’t even turn pro because he taught he didn’t have enough power for the pros after boxing amateur in and out style with speed and volume over power punching until he trained with an American coach show him how to use his max potential! Same with Hearns

The fact is that every body have a personal potential for power and speed but you never know what it is if you don’t learn the advanced power punching techniques.

Many world class amateur are fighters using mostly snapping “arm punches” along with movement to score points over getting max power from sitting down planted with full hip and shoulder torque followed by a explosive shoulder snap with full follow trough ect.

You gotta be Born with it bro. If you could learn it all the Master Boxers w out it would've just learned it. For instance.....If you could learn punching power dont you think Someone like Pernell Whitaker would have caught on and started knocking people out.....

Dont you think Paulie Malignaggi would have learned and added power punching to his rep.

What about Old School Willie Pep, dont you think he would have learned it.....

            Better yet Bernard Hopkins.

You cant learn punching power, you can learn how to punch but Power is within. You either got it or you dont.

              1. Relax. Imagine you have no bones.

              2. Bend your knees, twist your torso, follow through with shoulder

Watch Tom Brady throw a football. See how effortless he makes it look as he fires absolute lazers. It's all about launching forward with the legs and twisting the torso. That should help with straight punches and throwing knives. For hooks and upper cuts, Iron Mike is probably the best example of maximizing the launch from the legs and twisting from the torso.

Being pissed off at life also helps.

                  Happy brawling...
