    no it's not. the process is like this .... palitaw (minus the coconut) then mix it again and then out of that you can make kalamay.

    • ok guys.... here is some history for you.... based on what i was told by elders in Binan, Laguna (where great "kakanin" - thats ricecakes for the sosyals) - are made.

      Kutsinta was originally made without food coloring. What instead gives the color is the use of "brown sugar" (Asukal na Pula as it is called locally) - not the "white" processed ones. The tinge that the color of orange/brown that shows up with the finished product depends on the "color quality" of the brown sugar used, hence... the culprit. So the deeper the color of the brown sugar means a greater shade of brown, and lesser means an orange one.... so there you go....

      Now, what was the question again.... Orange or Brown....????
