  • Most skillful overall MMA ever? So far?

If anyone says Anderson silva you are an idiot! Hes a southpaw big for his division, and has good genetics. Skill wise he is a good boxer andkicker, with a good grapple stifeling game, nothing remarkable about him, hes not on teh same level as some kickboxers that cross over into mma, he never faced a good kickoxer ever.

For me its either prime Fedor who has incredible striking submissions and takedowns really well rounded and technical small for his division.

    or

Werdum, the current version has really good striking now and hes perhaps the best in the world at BJJ, thats an incredible skill set

I take it you hate Anderson.

With that being said...It's Anderson and not many in the world disagree. He's likely the greatest of all time for now. Fedor is nice but it will be forever tainted since he had the issues with the UFC.

Werdum may end up being a good pick but Anderson is by far one of only a few in the running. People would take a GSP call more serious than Fedor at this point. It's not so much that you pick Fedor but that you completely discount Anderson on some far reaching trollage. You pick Fedor and the guy who beat Fedor... lol.

I think the consensus is 1. Anderson and 2. GSP

Not really up to debate outside a few names but Fedor is no longer top 2. He's up there..but he will likely not stand the test of time.

GSP is a very advanced and effective fighter but hes one dimensional (a very good dimension) his head is basically cheese on a mouse trap, everyone knows they can KO him if they connect and as soon as they try it gives him a chance to intercept with a take-down, until then he stays on the outside flicking left round kicks and jabs and winning on points

Hes not very good at BJJ, striking or even wrestling, he just has a really smart game plan for his genetics that works time and time again

Fedors striking was very wild and untechnical. He beat Cro Cop by pure aggression alone. His striking isnt anything good. Just powerful.

Andersons wrestling was always a problem. He didnt care because his juijitsu and spider legs bailed him out constantly.

I say its between Aldo, Cruz, and Mighty Mouse. All there striking is world class, anazing athletes and their wrestling/BJJ has always been on point.

Surprised no one has mentioned Jon Jones?

Stand up from distance is accurate.
Inside fighting positioning and timing with elbows is overwhelming.

Take down defense is one of the best.

Scramble on ground and always seems to take ground control where he can drop elbows

BJ Penn... Dude has fought all the way from 145 up to 200 (when he fought Machida, and BARELY lost a decision in Japan... think Penn weighed like 193, and Machida weighed 225... was an open weight fight).

His BJJ was off the charts - his flexibility - he could be on his back, keep you in his rubber guard, and completely control you, beating the **** out of you.

            His boxing was also amazing...

Also, as the dude above me mentioned, Jon Jones is a complete fighter.

Mighty Mouse, JBJ and Silva, they all beat fighters at their one game, the best ever in their respective divisions.

lol you're the idiot for picking Fedor. He couldn't even throw a proper punch(heavyweights with small gloves will find knockouts regardless) he aimed his thumb downwards when he threw the overhand right which resulted in many hand and wrist injuries.

It's Anderson. In his prime his defense was as good as his offense. Top level Muay Thai, counter boxing, TKD, clinch and guard game, he could even brawl due to his Chute Boxe background and iron head. Stamina for days, toughest skin ever in MMA but perhaps most important was his fight IQ. He could score finishes out of any opening at any moment of the fight.

The most skillful fighters are well rounded, have no major weaknesses and always dictate where and how the fight plays out. Having a long and dominant title run always helps too.

                    GSP
                    Jose Aldo
                    Jon Jones
                    Mighty Mouse
