they were right in waiting for gamboa-lopez to get bigger.
just because lopez lost changes nothing.
they can do gamboa-lopez next month and the $$$$$$ involved wouldn't change much.
just because lopez screwed **** up doesn't necessarily mean they lost much.
it's like if i offer you $10,000 for your used car last year.
you say no because you're wanting for a better offer and end up selling the car this year for $9,500.
you didn't really lose much.
I think the approach was wrong because they didn't really build the fight up at all. Let say Lopez had won yesterday, the fight would be no bigger in 2011 than it would've been in 2010 or late 2009 even.
I think it made more sense to do Lopez-Gamboa, people pay attention to it, and then the winner has a good chance of becoming a star. But having them both continually face mostly uninteresting opponents while waiting for the fight to become really big...if Lopez and Gamboa carry on fighting the same kind of guys they've been fighting, I don't see anything changing.

i disagree. they've been fighting solid opposition.
like i said , arum didn't really lose much by not holding lopez-gamboa sooner.
what arum lost was the undefeated label on lopez and he'll need to build him back up.
not holding gamboa-lopez sooner means nothing financially.
and that's all that matters to uncle bob.
gamboa-lopez was just for us few who actually follow boxing closely and to boxing media.
