Much of the world used to treat drug addiction as a health issue, not a criminal one. And then America got its way.

Hard to blame us for the worlds view on drugs. That said I don't see how anyone can say with a straight face that the "war" on drugs has been successful. Its been an epic failure from a practical view and from a moral view. I doubt many people would argue that drugs can't be destructive, but all we get is the **** side of the story and the horrors that come with being a drug addict. We don't get the side of the story that 1/3 of all people will use an illegal substance at some point, yet less than 2% will become drug addicts.
