Because I don’t want people with less money than me to have access to the same medical treatment as me because they don’t deserve it as much as me. Because money.

Because we are far and away the world's #1 powerhouse in medical research. Part of what keeps our medical research so cutting edge is our privatized system. Without the pharmaceutical industry being a competitive, for profit business, there is less pressure and competition to continuously advance medicine. It also makes it a more lucrative field here, drawing the most talented doctors and scientists from around the world to assist in that advancement. If we go to a single payer system (which I'm actually not entirely opposed to), nurses wages would go to sh**, doctors wages would get significantly lower, and the overall quality of care would be decreased as hospitals would no longer be in direct competition with each other.

Why do people from Canada come to the US for treatment?

              Because they're influenced by propaganda.

Fox News has them thinking that one lady from a district in the Bronx is going to implement socialism all across America. They've made this woman out to be the boogeyman. And she's brown with a hispanic name so that adds to her scariness.

The arguments against Universal Healthcare is that you are going to pay anywhere from 6-10% more in taxes and receive inferior care or wait longer for treatment. That means an average person making 40K a year will have over $300 taken out of his check per month in taxes, so by that theory you can instead go on the free market and find a cheaper plan that would cost less than $300 a month.

The problem is, since Obamacare was enacted good luck finding a comprehensive plan for less than $300 a month with deductibles that arent in the $5000 range.

You either need to go full free market, and have someone create the Netflix of Healthcare, or completely Socialize healthcare like every single developed nation has. What we have right now is the worst of both worlds.

For the record I voted for Obama in his first term.
When he did the healthcare overall and said "you can get your doctor if you want" It was a lie. When he said "rates will go down" it was a lie. My rates are 200.00 a month higher than before that mess started.
He pumped TRILLIONS into the economy and screwed up the healthcare system. No matter what happens rates will never go down to what they were.
