We should be seeing bigger checks in Feb.

I read an article yesterday that said a worker making $60k/yr will see an extra $115 a month.

Do you see the correlation between unemployment numbers cutting in half and welfare rates almost doubled? That 4.5% didn't count those who dropped out of the workplace altogether.
      thats not true

How is 2k to 2000 people changing anything when the average worker is producing 3 times what they did in the 60s yet they are 20% better off.
Its 2K for 60,000 people, and its 2K more for than the people ever got for the past 8 years, so its a pleasant surprise to say the least.

If a Republican gave him the car, yes. If a Democrat gave him a jalopy though, he'd be eternally grateful and would tell everyone it's the greatest car on earth.

2k ? I wouldn't get out of bed for that. Hows 2k gonna change a dam thing for a poor worker ?

You haven't addressed the $70bil in buy back in 10 days. It closer to $300bil now.

$300bil gone forever from the economy to the pockets of the rich, to be hoarded.

Yes it is. Explain how unemployment rates go down while welfare rates go up.

If you, a family member or anyone is unemployed and has subsequently given up on finding a job -- if you are so hopelessly out of work that you've stopped looking over the past four weeks -- the Department of Labor doesn't count you as unemployed. That's right. While you are as unemployed as one can possibly be, and tragically may never find work again, you are not counted in the figure we see relentlessly in the news -- currently 5.6%. Right now, as many as 30 million Americans are either out of work or severely underemployed. Trust me, the vast majority of them aren't throwing parties to toast "falling" unemployment.

There's another reason why the official rate is misleading. Say you're an out-of-work engineer or healthcare worker or construction worker or retail manager: If you perform a minimum of one hour of work in a week and are paid at least $20 -- maybe someone pays you to mow their lawn -- you're not officially counted as unemployed in the much-reported 5.6%. Few Americans know this.

Yet another figure of importance that doesn't get much press: those working part time but wanting full-time work. If you have a degree in chemistry or math and are working 10 hours part time because it is all you can find -- in other words, you are severely underemployed -- the government doesn't count you in the 5.6%. Few Americans know this.

Obviously you've never been poor. While $2K isn't a life-changer, it can help immensely with much needed car repairs, medical bills, clothes, or other necessities that working class people struggle with.

I find it odd that you are crying about those billions going to corporations. Yet, you celebrate Obama's 4.9% unemployment rate, which included a lot of low-wage McJobs, which explains why he was such an advocate for $15 per hour minimum wage increases. Most of the jobs created during his admin were minimum wage and/or part time jobs that no one can live on. But the cheerleading by the left on his unemployment numbers is still ringing in our ears. Even though it never took into account those who dropped out of the workforce completely and got on welfare, which almost doubled during his administration.
