Rep. Farenthold paid $84G sexual harassment settlement with taxpayer money, report says.
Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, used more than $80,000 of taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment claim from a former staffer, Politico reported.
Lauren Greene worked as Farenthold’s communications director and sued the congressman in 2014 for gender discrimination, sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, according to Politico.
When the case was settled in 2015, Farenthold said he didn’t engage in any wrongdoing. Neither Greene’s lawyer nor Farenthold confirmed whether she was the recipient of an apparent $84,000 payout from an Office of Compliance account.
In the past five years, the Office of Compliance only paid funds to settle one sexual harassment claim, it said in a letter. That settlement was $84,000.

Legendary Metropolitan Opera conductor James Levine molested an Illinois teenager from the time he was 15 years old, sexual abuse that lasted for years and led the alleged victim to the brink of suicide, according to a police report obtained by The Post. The alleged abuse began while Levine was guest conductor at the Ravinia Music Festival outside Chicago, a post the wild-haired maestro held for two decades.
The alleged victim came forward to the Lake Forest, Ill. Police Department in October 2016 to detail the molestation, including times when Levine would masturbate in front of him and kiss his penis, according to the report.
The alleged victim informed a former Met Opera board member of the alleged abuse in 2016 and she alerted the Met’s general manager, yet Levine continued to wield his baton.
