I personally think its retrded. Unless you're at a tropical beach or a mountain and plates, utensils aren't accessible, this is the way to do it. Pinoys do this to take pics for instagram and fb to get likes. It's stupid.

I've had family get togethers where we would eat with our hands. Shrug, doesn't feel that weird to me anymore. Usually everyone just eats what's right in front of them anyway so not too much cross contamination.
