Take a census in the area. If a large number of residents speak the language just print the extra word in their language.

I'll never understand that. When I have a BBQ with my neighbors a couple of them have been here like 10 years and their English is busted.

Don't let that bar/restaurant owner rile you up. Remember that's a dude who has sex with prostitutes in old decrepit building in unsavory conditions.

to be fair i've been in the US for more than 10 years, college graduate in the philippines where they teach english from elementary to college.. some posters still say i speak engrish..

i've seen pinoy kids just 1 or 2 years here in the US speak better english than me.. i think it's easier for kids to learn another language than adults because i notice that also on some pinoys who came here after 18 yrs old.. their english is not good (like someone born here good) even after 20+ years here..

Yeah I get what you're saying it is easier to learn another language when younger.

I spoke better Spanish when I was younger than I do now. I can still speak but its pretty busted.

My neighbors though...their English is seriously ****ed up

If you move to a country try your hardest to learn the language.

Learning English is a much bigger hurdle for immigrants than earlier believed, with most Hispanics being functional illiterates, even those who have been in the United States for over a decade.

A new analysis of immigrants found that 63 percent of Hispanics have a "below basic" understanding of English, making them illiterate.

And it doesn't get better if they stay in the U.S. for 15 years. In a shocking finding showing that they haven't tried to learn -- or even had to -- more, 67 percent, of Hispanics don't have English proficiency even after 15 years in America.

The Center for Immigration Studies found that overall immigrants of all nationalities have difficulty with English. Some 41 percent score at or below the lowest level of English literacy.

                  - snip -
English is one of the hardest languages to learn. Most immigrants arriving after a certain age will most likely never fully master the language or lose the accent from their native countries.

English and Spanish are both European colonial languages. Watching people take stubborn ethnic pride in refusing to learn one is hilarious.
