The violence was bad, but not the worst. It was really the rape scene that was most disturbing. I think it might be the longest in movie history. It makes the rape scenes in Deliverance and other movies laughable by comparison.

If you have the stomach for these kind of movies, give it a watch.

Definitely not. If you decide to watch it, I wouldn't recommend watching it with anyone really.

I forgot there was a 2010 remake of it as well. Ebert gave it a zero rating.

A few that spring to mind for me:

Green Room (saw it in the cinema recently)
          Gummo
          The Shining

I don't watch enough of these kinds of films

I don't know if it was just me but Dark Knight Rises and Trainwreck were pretty hard for me to make it through.

Freaks is, despite the content, quite a "broad" film. It's very much 1930s Hollywood before the dawn of method acting.

I have NO ****ing idea. When we'd split up I asked her to watch I Spit On Your Grave with me as well.

This is actually the movie that came to my mind when I started reading through the thread. Granted, im no movie buff. But I remember seeing that movie when I was young and got a boner and an upset stomach...does that count?

Watched Justin Kurzel's Snowtown today and would recommend it as being mildly disturbing. I knew none of the actors prior and thought most of them did a commendable job.
