If you were a rock fan the music scene was great. Also rap was gaining a lot of traction and you had a lot of original stuff. You simply interacted with more people and the economy was booming. At the end of the decade drugs became an epidemic.

The 70s count not compare to the 60s but the 80s you had all these cool cars, games, etc.
