  • Why are Canada & Australia still under British rule??

Surely these countries are now rich enough to kick the monarchy out and become independent nations, why do they still have to be ruled by the queen. Just look at what happened to Gulf Whitlam of Australia when he tried to go against the monarchy, it doesn't make too much sense from their point of view in this day and age, they benefit/gain nothing and lose everything including their nations independence?

They are independent countries. They are just a part of the common wealth.

No. There are commonwealth countries and there are countries under the monarchy. Queen Elizabeth is 'the' queen of Australia & Canada & has the power to overrule & even throw out the prime minister like gof whitlam

The Queen's position is nothing more than ceremonial really.

          Dissolve the monarchy!!!

Canada and Australia are for all practical purposes independent nations under the Common Wealth.

We make our own laws, elect our own leaders, 0% of Canadian taxes is given to the monarchy, If the UK goes to war, Canada is not obligated to, etc.

Now it is true that the Gov. General, who is a representative of the queen must approve any such laws, it has become purely ceremonial. If the queen ever 'rejected' a law passed in Canada, shit would hit the fan, and I'm pretty sure we could tell the Queen to fuck off at any moment without anything more than a strained international relationship to worry about.

The difference is, we gained our independence through diplomacy and saved the lives of thousands of young men. Although the American Revolution made that process a hell of a lot easier. The British did not want a repeat of another costly war overseas.

Nah, the Queen has little to no power these days. Those countries are independent. Use google.

Do you think only Canada and Australia ?

They still control big part of the World, including USA. There are just a few countries they cant control. Turkiye and Russia is two of them.
