    I think that the impact of that era of German music is quite underestimated. Hell, take some of the very best of the UK's music in particular from the mid-to-late 70s and a lot of it is directly influenced from krautrock. Think Bowie as early as Station to Station (brilliant album, by the way) through his "Berlin Trilogy" as an example.

    Can and Neu! are both highly recommended. I think you can hear a lot of their influence in modern indie music. They just did it 30 years earlier - and I think quite a lot better. Can's "Tago Mago" may very well be my favorite album of all-time. I think either Ege Bamyasi or Future Days are better starting points though. Neu! '75 is a good starting point for Neu!.

                Though I probably like American music just as much if not better
