No knowledge exists in a vacuum, but I just feel the world owes Greek civilization so much. From the Greeks and Chinese to the Muslim world and then from that to Europe again (Renaissance) and now from Europe to the USA which pushes the frontiers forward today.
We all share knowledge and build upon others work.

See Greek civilization and its passing the torch Eastward leading to the golden ages of Islamic civilization, then that feeding into a new European revival and then from Europe to the 'new world' is all documented.
(Obviously that is extremely short hand of the flow of knowledge, but you know A build upon B who built upon C etc).
Where is proof that "large chunks" of Greek knowledge came from Egypt?

Id imagine Archimdes was no different.

Your two examples are straight out of the industrial revolution. People tend to assume the world was always the way they know it now.Last edited by res; 01-12-2013, 09:52 PM.
