Why can't Iran just stop oil production to the West and cripple them without going to war?

Israel reminds me of a victim of bullying. Years and years of oppression and persecution and they are now the bully. The victim always turns into the bully.

Maybe they should follow Buddhism, but Im pretty sure the Torah teaches compassion. Why are they always acting like this?

I don't think that "Crazy Mormon" is all that different from Obama on foreign policy; he just has to throw red meat to his base, I think it's all talk. I don't even think he cares about it much, and is far more invested in economic matters, which is why he has such a tin ear for it. He'll just go in whatever direction the center right is moving, and that direction presently is to, at the most, equip Israel with whatever additional means it needs (Bunker busters etc.) and to let them handle it..

China can't if SE Asia, Japan, and SKorea are all involved. Japan and SKorea have more modern military machinery than China. Japan's naval power is actually more powerful and can be considered a blue water navy, China is not.

China's numerical superiority and nuclear armaments are at present their advantage. Such advantage however, might soon disappear since Japan and SKorea will have efficient anti-missile systems in the near future.

China might have overtaken Japan as an economic powerhouse, but the latter is still way ahead when it comes to technology.

Japan is also a nuclear power. You're just not suppose to say so.

This and your other comments really come from an imperialistic world view, grounded in so-called "American/Western exceptionalism" (which is about as imperialistic a concept as there is). It's obviously hard for you to think outside of this construct, but this idea that Middle Easterners yearn for a transformation of their society into a "western-style democracy" is a myth which is created basically for propaganda purposes, and little more.

When you think of a concept like "western-style democracy", perhaps it evokes rosy images for you. I can imagine that for a person in the Middle East, it may well evoke images of Iraq.

The reason Israel is so opposed to any notion of an Iranian nuclear capacity (keep in mind that they have denied allegations of developing nuclear weapons) is because a nuclear Iran would put them on somewhat equal footing with nuclear Israel. It is harder to push around a country that has nuclear weapons. So long as Israel is the only country with nukes in the region, they have disproportionate political power. It is the desire to preserve this upper hand, not legitimate fears of an Iranian assault, which is behind the Israeli position.
