GT: I've actually seen Cannibal Holocaust as well. Very violent with a crazy ending. One of the most gruesome parts is when they kill a turtle (it's real footage of a turtle being killed).
Cannibal Holocaust certainly ranks up there on the sick list. The film 'Seed' has real footage of animal cruelty in it aswell, uncalled for imo

The French have really stepped their horror/dark/torture movies up over the years. Martyrs is my favorite, but there were some other good ones like High Tension, Frontier(s), Inside, etc.

Speaking of ultra violent, Inside (À l'intérieur) had some pretty damn violent scenes

plus it had kind of a lightlweight lookin, more pyscho/angry angelina jolie b!tch that played the role really well. freaky hoe!
The french certainly know what they are doing when it comes too dark horror,i didnt enjoy Frontiers that much personally but thought Inside was an excellent film, the chick Beatrice Dalle looks freaky enough in real life so she fitted her role perfectly in that one.Check out 'Cache'-not so much of a torture film but still has a very creepy feel too ut

Thanks ill check that out. Most American horror movies are pure trash these day so I'm always trying to find some good foreign ones. I've been really into Korean films lately, not so much horror but dark/twisted

I consider myself a videophile. I love movies, and I pride myself on seeing movies most people haven't seen. Independant films and such. But there are these rare, mostly unseen, often horribly acted and directed films that people seem to just be dying to see because they're so violent.

          Movies like
          Salo
          http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073650/

          Chaos
          http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405977/

          August Undergrounds Mordum
          http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410332/

          Cannibal Holocaust
          http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078935/

and some other movie I couldn't even find information about called A Serbian Film.

(Note: I didn't include any of the Faces of Death series because these are not movies, per se'. To me they're just strung together clips)

I haven't seen any of these, and have no intention of seeing what are proabably crapfests, but my question is this:

          What makes people
          1. want to MAKE or act in films like these, or

          2. watch films like these?

I'm curious to hear from those of you who might have actually seen one (or god forbid more) of these movies, (or a movie like these) with your reasoning behind why you saw them? Was it just morbid curiosity after hearing all the hype?
go see japanese gore film, people always talk about that. myself is movie addict aswell but i dont like gore or rape film, there are video about man eaten by lion on my hardisk and i never seen it. too scary.....

Oldboy and Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance are both extremely violent, but often in a darkly comic fashion. The latter especially is almost a black comedy, like Ichi the Killer (which no westerner ever recognizes - if you don't realize it's a comedy it's one of the worst films ever).

Well, according to the "making of..." on the DVD version it's a combination of computer graphics and a mannequin. I remember watching for the first time it was a real oh **** moment.

LMFAO. I started laughing out loud when he starts shouting that. I just watched the movie

A Serbian film has some pretty disgusting content, I must admit...

right and a lot of them end up getting remade poorly by the US. Did you know Hollywood is remaking Oldboy? With Spike Lee as the director?!?!? :smh:

                      *edit* why is s p i k e blocked out? makes no sense (so the link doesn't work because it has s p i k e - lee)
