Now they're "enemies", lol. But in reality, the war is fake.

Furthermoar, how come none of you peanut headed ****s ever make threads about how the U.S/Canada/Britain are so cozy cozy with Saudi Arabia where the alleged "Wahabi" sect is moar prevalent and practiced than anywhere, where they oppress women more widely and more systematically than the Taliban and where capitol punishment is just as medieval as anywhere in the world?

    how bout that sucka?

I read the piece in Time magazine about the Afghani woman who's ears and nose were cut off, it's sickening.

Taliban denied it later but according to the own Afghani people, it's pretty much common place before the Americans got there. There were women killed and tortured for going to school, having sex before marriage, even something as little as arguing or disobeying their husbands.

      What a wonderful place.

But that's the standard line trotted out by the anti-war moonbats.

though it can't be overlooked cuz' its so obvious, its also about geostrategic positioning evidenced by all the permanent, and large military bases built there in order to project military power into Iran, Russia and China.

But never mind what the reality is, why do YOU think they went to Iraq again?

          Cuz' Saddamn did 9/11 right?

Obviously not. You are partly right about it being a strategic move on the part of the USA but that stuff about military bases is absolute crap. The US already has military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and the UAE not to mention deployments in easy reach of those locations in Germany, Turkey and Greece etc.

The strategic part of the war was a part of the poorly named "war on terror" in the arena of "hearts and minds". Essentially the US needed a friendly Western style democracy in the Middle East that wasn't the universally (among muslims) despised Israel. All they needed was to depose the despot in charge and keep things stable for a while and let the people sample a bit of democratic autonomy.

A beacon of secular democracy in a muslim nation in the Middle East would drastically reduce the recruitment ability of fuckheads like Al Qaeda who would be increasingly alienated from their core supporters. This plan backfired, in part because of the ineptitude of the US leadership (who felt that winning the propaganda war back home and finding WMDs was more important than winning the actual war in Iraq and stopping the insurgency) and in part because of ruthless Islamists who are devoted to restoring the Caliphate with the blood of their "muslim brothers".

What would help the US is a stable and safe population. What would help the cause of Islamic extremism is death and chaos, so that a benevolent Islamic dictator can "protect" the people from "imperialism" by forcing them into an ascetic Islamic theocracy.

In other words while the ultimate goal is a protection of American interests the interim goal is the protection of Iraqis and their new democracy. Which despite the fuckheads killing Iraqi citizens in the name of "freedom" is flourishing thanks to a stoic and defiant population.
