How does it set them back if they got better? A trade can't set you back when you get better and you're not competing for a ring. Trading Russell allows the Lakers to sign someone like George to help the young guys. The young core is talented, but they're not ready to compete in the west. Why do you think Minny decided to trade some of their young guys for Butler and surround KAT and Wiggins with Jimmy and other vets? You need vets around the young guys to win.

Please tell us how the Lakers are going to unload Moz's contract without trading any of the young core before next summer to sign at least one max player.

if the knicks get salary cap for a star that compliments their roster better and draft a guy who is Porzingod+ making Porzingod expendable, and get a serviceable rent on a decent player and picks, why not? All that talk about Phil being an idiot for considering trading Porzingis was foolish....If the Celtics had given him 3 top picks if they drafted right they could've had half a starting lineup instead of a star who maybe goes away if he keeps losing and it only sets you back one season.

Buyout would mean Lakers pay 51 mill for nothing over a maximum of seven years, and it .means you are stuck with 7+mill less cap for a player you don't have(10 mill of capspace doesnt help you now...as opposed to buying him out next year getting you 14 mill capspace).. doesnt make sense to buy him out right now, maybe next year if you can't use Randle to unload him.


The bad contracts are what couldve frozen the lakers back....getting rid of decent players.....you can always get one close to that or better.
