Because Arsenal are too idealistic. The club and their fans pride themselves on simply being part of a match.

That whole "we play football the right way" mentality.

You don't get extra goals for being wide open but "at least they went forward".

There's an element of just wanting to win at all costs that the CL requires.

Liverpool won both in the last 20 years with that methodology. Just go out and win... and they did.

In spite of what? 35% possession, 64% pass completion, some 300 less passes, 1 penalty, 1 shit-house goal.

Only Barcelona stuck to a ideology out of all the winners in the past 20 so years. Yet, even then, it could be seen as a very pragmatic way of play...

Just playing keep away for 90 mins.

If United shithoused a bit more often when seeing Barcelona. They'd probably have a few more CL cups in the cabinet to be honest.
None of our goals have been shithouse tbh - we bodybagged everyone we faced. Whether it was Juve in 05 or Bayern in 19, they all got that D

    • Hazard to Madrid for 130m.. Chelsea need to buy 2 top players for that..

United got a Swansea winger for 20m

      • Hope Hazard does really well there.

Can’t complain - Hazard at this moment is obviously too good for us.

In an alternate universe he’s bagged 3 Champions leagues and another few league titles. Still won a lot but could have been part of dominant team but Chelsea tend to get most things wrong. Still won stuff but could and probably should have won everything.

Great player but two negatives are that he does hold onto the ball for a long time. Real Madrid won’t be used to that. He also had a season where he didn’t score a goal until April. For a player with his talent you have to question his temperament there. He could play for the dog and duck in prem and do better than that.

I don’t think Chelsea will get a player of that talent for a long time. We’ll not compete for them in the transfer market

I tell a lie.. it's 88m according to the BBC.. Daylight robbery..

He's not on Ronaldo's level but that's what Madrid paid United almost what? 10-11 years ago?

              • Damn, England pissing all over the front of their pants, 2 shockingly awful giveaways to put this game up on a platter, the Dutch are back!

                • The English absolutely bottled that. Sounds about right.

                  I dislike VAR though..

                  • Stones is a joke.

There’s a reason why Pep played a 47 year old crippled Kompany ahead of him.

Walker is also an utter bum.

Again, there’s a reason why Pep is on the verge of spending another £50m+ on a fullback.

Side note : £200m+ on fullbacks alone in the last couple of seasons and City fans have the cheek to celebrate the paltry return of a league and Carling Cup. Pathetic.

                    • The mighty O’s spent about £35,000 on transfers and won their division. Man City can stick their £200m full backs up their arse.

Can’t wait to play Crawley, Morecambe and Forest Green Rovers twice next season - its the stuff dreams are made of.
