ok... but what is it exactly?

a place? a state of mind? populated by?

and those not fortunate to be there, are those people in hell?

It is a place sir. When our earthly bodies die, the soul only has 3 possible destination depending on the person's actions when he/she was still alive. Heaven, Purgatory or Hell.

The thousands upon thousands of people who were fortunate to see heaven and was allowed to go back in order for them to spread the news describe Heaven as a place of infinite beauty. Where everything is plenty and people live in complete harmony. Words cannot begin to describe the majesty of heaven, man's natural inheritance from God.

A young woman who was gifted by God paints her visions of heaven, Akiane. A neurosurgeon (scientist) who was a former atheist saw heaven and it's majesty and has written a book about it.

The folly of man is that we have been deceived into thinking that the material universe is the all governing reality when in fact it is but a mere curtain to man's rightful destination.

The link between God and man is FAITH. Science is nothing but a tool to improve man's life not exalt himself above God.

That's not much of a definition.

It is a location outside of the material universe.

The fundamental issue of reality is not the material universe but of the existence of the soul. Heaven is the rightful place where the Just reside forever. Gifts that were taken from humanity subsequent to our first parents' banishment are restored (telepathy, telekenesis, extra-sensory perception, etc.).

And where did you obtain these descriptions of heaven? The Bible?

The Bible yes. But there are also thousands upon thousands of testimonies of those who died or near-death and saw heaven and was given the chance to go back and spread the word.

You know the saying "To see is to believe". I happen to personally know of one such example where a kid from our neighborhood died in the hospital because of a disease (his heart stopped beating and the doctor gave up for dead on the kid). He was probably 5-6 years old that time. It was nothing short of a miracle.

The doctor was already out of the room when the attending nurse suddenly grasped the defibrillator and administered on the kid. The kid woke up and afterwards told his parents that he went to heaven and saw St. Peter.

St. Peter instructed him to go back since "it was not yet his time" even though he said he didn't want to go back since it was so beautiful there said the kid.

When you personally encounter things like this it has a tendency to shake every belief system one has.

As for the gifts that were taken from us (telepathy, ESP, telekinesis, etc), those are restored to us in heaven although we still have faint traces of these gifts while on earth. For example INTUITION.

The issue I have with biblical accounts is that why isn't God still dictating his agenda to modern people? The bible is outdated and there lies many contradictions and situations that just don't apply to the 21th century. Why isn't God giving us guidance for this new technological modern world we live in?
