You will be playing as an “east coast gangster”

This has been a popular one. Reports have suggested that in GTA V, the main character will be a middle-aged East Coast gangster who returns to Los Santos in search of a fresh start. This latest rumour was seen in the print version of this week’s Shortlist magazine. An older protagonist would be a change for Rockstar in a GTA title, and after Max Payne 3 we know they can teach an old dog new tricks…


There will be more than one Protagonist

If this rumour is true then it would mark a seismic shift in how a GTA game is played. Reports suggest that the GameInformer GTA V issue has leaked out information that you will play as two characters, Albert DeSilva a 42 year old “half American, half Puerto Rican” who is pulled back into a world of crime to make money (apparently Breaking Bad is an influence), and Dougie Vejo who is an up and coming LA Criminal. How would two characters pan out for GTA V? Would we see an intertwining storyline with both characters? Or two separate campaigns? The possibility this rumour presents is certainly intriguing.


Some San Andreas hallmark locations return

Rockstar have changed things a little for GTA V, instead of a full-on San Andreas state sandbox, we are now in Los Santos, which in within San Andreas. This is still set to be a massive location and rumour has it that GTA V’s Los Santos will include Grove Street, the neighbourhood you start out at in GTA: SA. The bad news is that Carl and Sweet won’t be making a return. No Boyz in the Hood inspired shenanigans then!


Customisation is back

One thing that GTA IV was missing was the excellent customisation options that were present in GTA San Andreas. If the latest reports are to be believed then we can expect some character customisation tol return, such as clothes and hair/facial hair, sadly though no sign of Gyms or tattoos. On the plus side car customisation is apparently set to return to the series. Expect to be hooking up the Infernus with nitrous and some low riding suspension.


Music and mini games

Some of the songs featured in the soundtrack are rumoured to be ‘My Michelle’ – Guns and Roses, ‘Magic Power’ – Triumph, ‘California Dreamin’ – Beach Boys, ‘Beautiful’ – Snoop Dogg feat Pharrell. There is also the alleged return of Lovefist (now known as The Jezzies) and mini games that include golf, tennis and surfing.

Which, if any, of these rumours that do end up being accurate remains to be seen but one thing that is 100% true is that fans of the series will be eagerly watching this evening for the first details to emerge online. Rockstar have also announced that the second trailer for GTA V will be released next week on Wednesday November 14th. We will have all the latest details and news as it unfolds on Gamedot.
