  • How do football players and other non combat athletes train their neck?

Other than wrestlers, football players and some people who don't do anything but lift weights sometimes have necks big as or bigger than Mike Tyson. I know football players work their neck with bridges or harnesses, but how about those bodybuilders who just do shrugs. How do they have big necks also? I know shrugs work the rear lower portion of the neck muscles but they don't do **** for the rest of the neck. And what exactly do these football players do? I know they don't neck bridge as much as wrestlers and yet they have even bigger necks.

During summers I used to work out with the college football students, they do a lot of things similar to this. Don't forget that playing the game builds your neck tremendously.

at my friend's high school they had a neck resistance machine that you would actually sit in for the football players

wtf? I dont think they specifically target their necks.

Squats, lat pulldowns, pull ups. they all strengthen the trapezius. therefore their neck has a strong base. Hence fat necks on linebackers and linemen. I never worked my neck or saw anyone in the weight room working their neck when I played football.

So from a football player's perspective, we dont do it.

Then again I played Corner and tackled the proper way. With the shoulder not the head.
