  • can you eventually learn to take a power shot??

question: as time goes on and you get more experienced at sparring, can you begin to get more "immune" to heavier shots??? like lets say if your really green when you start out and you constantly keep backing away after taking a heavy shot, can you build more pain toughness after awhile?? or is this something that you have to live with as you keep boxing?? just wanted to know

Yeah definitly. Many people take medicine balls and throw them at a partenrs stomach to make the body shots hurt less and to build up that mid section. The same goes for when you take shots in the ring, youll get used to them. Also, building up your neck can increase your ability to not get knocked out as easily.

ko's are a funny thing. It's your central nervous system shutting down to avoed too much trauma. You body could learn that "well that kept me alive last time" so it is easier for it to happen the next time. You see it all of the time Roy Jones look how long it took for sombody to ko him, all of the sudden a jounyman ko's his ass amd makes him ****, Tyson couldn't knock him down for **** now hell I probably could. Not that those two examples are the best to point out, They both have other probalems outside of taking a shot. My point is And I am getting to it. You learn how to roll with the punches, Get a better resistance and feel for what hurts you and what you just think hurt. But I don't think you can take a glass jaw and turn it to granite if thats what you mean. I think the opposite is more likely

i agree in some ways,in boxing ur gonna get hit harder the better u get, because u face a higher stander of opponent the more u progress, like an amateur going into the pros, will addapt to the power of pro fighters even thou he has been used to fighting with headgear and more padded gloves,so yeh in a way ur body will get used to harder punches, but 2 be honest i think its all about the heart

I don't mean KO punches necessarily, what i mean is can you eventually learn to tolerate those punches that are meant to seriously daze and hurt you bad enough to even break your nose??? cuz sometimes when I get hit by a heavy hook I end up getting shaken and start bringing my hands down which lets the other guy hit me with a combo. I've only had like 2 sparring sessions though, 3 rounds, so I'm still workin on holding my ground and keepin the hands up...

dont worry,u will pick things up that help u,boxing is about not getting hit,so before u start thinkin bout bein able to take the punches, learn ways to avoid them, its all about building ur own style,we cant all be like arturo gatti
