  • Going down to this boxing gym on Monday...

I think I found the perfect place for myself. The few other gyms I had checked out were too far away (sometimes an hour or more) and anywhere from 70-150+ a month, and they didn't train us all that well. Generally it was like, show up twice a week for one hour, punch at the mirror, do a few set of pushups and go home. No real instruction or practice.

Well the past few weeks I saw this really big, really nice looking gym but kept considering against it because it looked really expensive and I was getting tired of wasting money.

Anyways I was driving past it earlier today (it's about 5 miles from my house) and I decided to check in and talk to them. I was really impressed. They had small relaxing room with a fridge, tv, boxing tapes and a nice little couch. The actual gym had a full size ring, tons of punching bags and every type of boxing equipment/pads/everything a boxer would need.

So we then talked about the actual training. It's 5 days a week for 1 1/2 or more hours, all the trainers have their credentials and have boxed professionally around the world. They first set you up with cardio specialist who gets you to the right weight/stamina you need to have and you learn some fundamentals of boxing.

Once you've done that you then go and work with the other trainers who train specifically in defense, offense, the whole boxing game really. Then when they believe you at least know the basics you start to spar, and compete and then you actually get to go other competitions and they even compete at the silver and golden gloves. Now throughout the whole process you do some training/conditioning on your own but they pretty much work with you the whole time so you get the most out of it.

But the best part was that they only charge 35 dollars a month, no contracts or any deposits or things like that. And you can buy all your gear from them for under 10 dollars.

So I am going to sign-up on Monday and let you guys know what happened and what it's like. But I didn't just make this thread to talk about this, so if anyone wants to give any advice or what to expect, talk about their gyms/first time going or just up their post count any thing would be much appreciated.
