  • Recreational Boxing workout?

I am trying to getting into a boxing workout routine. I am an avid boxing fan, and athlete. I have done some research and have a general idea.

But, I basically have no idea what im doing, but is this is a decent start?

My goals are to improve speed, strength while keeping weight down and maintaining flexibility. And basically get in to great shape.

    All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I was thinking of starting out with....

5 3min rounds on the jump rope, 60 seconds of rest.

5 3 min rounds on the heavy bag, 60 seconds rest

5 3min rounds on speed bag, 60 seconds rest

5 3min rounds with hand pads, 60 seconds rest

4 Sets of 20 reps, Medicine ball toss situps

This is just my start, all suggestions and comments are appreciated.

Some questions, any weight training exercises i should do? What else would be good for a newbie?

    Thanks a bunch.

Thats a good strong workout for even a seasoned boxer. I usually do :
    9X3 Jump Rope
6x3 Light - Moderate Shadow Boxing - Which you really should get used to doing
2x3 Speed Bag or Double End
    5x3 Heavy Bag
    10-15 Minutes of Abs
    4x3 Mitts
Then sparring Will be somewhere in there or at the end of a workout depending on what i did
All exercises have 30 second rests
Thats not my exact workout every night, some nights ill do lifting, or sometimes ill just do some shadow boxing and sparr all night. Either way, theres always a good workout involved.

It wouldn't be a bad start I guess if you can keep up with that schedule It's not complete, and basic, but you are new so don't over do it. allow rest time and cosult a trainer. "forget consult" work with one as often as you can. Your skills are most important. Now if this is just for fitness purposes it's fine. Add some more cardio as you go mix it up and have fun with it Boxing is an excellent workout.
