interesting question. i know you said "forget the idea", but i just want to add my couple of pence in case anyone else had thought of this question.

i would not recommend sparring without a coach/trainer if you're new to the fighting arts/boxing. i also would never recommend sparring with the untrained - although i have and it can be a fun and usefull experience as it would likely resemble a street fight more closely than boxing/sparring at the gym. and never, ever, spar with anyone who is emotionally unstable. no matter how skilled they are.

also, if you're relatively new to the craft, try to avoid sparring with arrogant fighters as they will not likely give you the opportunity to work on your craft in a progressive, productive manner.

          Why do you say that?

DMC - i say that because things can become very heated and carry over outside of the ring/etc.

there are a lot of crazy people out there. someone who isn't emotionally balanced, for example, might really try to **** you up without you both agreeing on that type of sparring.

also, some people are too competitive. i would recommend watching out for these people as well. again, with something like fighting/sparring, things can easily get carried away into something other than what it started at. sometimes, having a good really competitive partner for sparring is great. but make sure that you both agree on what level you're working on so nobody comes away feeling like they just got jacked up.

some people will tend to take things more personal than others. if you've watched a lot of boxing, then i'm sure you've seen people getting ktfo after the bell rings and things of that nature.

never let egos get involved with training. cool heads will lead to quicker progression.

            hope this answers your question.
