    Cold Out Here

31 degrees this morning when I hit the stairs. That's zero Centigrade for our friends across the pond. The last time it was this cold I was 30 lbs. heavier, maybe more. All that fat sheathing me made a HUGE difference; I remember being comfortable in short shirtsleeves down to 45F. Today's high was 45F and I was freezing my bag off when I went outside, even in a fleece hoodie and rain shell. Amazing. Never thought of a downside to getting thinner. I need to move someplace warm!

There are a lot of everythings here. It's about as multicultural as you can get short of a major, major city (Chicago, New York, Detroit, etc.) -- the downtown core is, anyway. Asians of every descent, Pacific Islanders, Persians, Arabs, Sikhs, East Indians, Russians, and very pronounced and active black and Hispanic populations. Puerto Ricans are under-represented -- as one of the guys on my team at work reminds me every day -- but otherwise, it's all here. Once you hit the 'burbs, though, there's zero funk. The affluent suburbs are 95% white. Maybe 99%.

True. Downtown, it is very metropolitan. I love it here. Also, from my deck I can see skysc****rs, trees, snow-capped mountains, and the ocean.
