You may have natural talent but remember that the first time Tyson seriously sparred he was counted out by a bodyblow from an older retired cruiserweight. Boxing is one sport where, without proper instruction and training, natural talent will get you nowhere. This isn't track and field where sheer athleticism can get you through. You need to be aware of many things and have the right mindset to be competitive with the lowest ranked amateurs and "tomato can" pros. All good fighters (I'm not even talking great, but merely good, as in good enough to be considered journeyman status or be televised on ESPN) have put in many thousands of hours learning proper technique. You could be equal to RJJ in your talent level but you'll get your ass kicked by someone who knows what he's doing, even if he only possesses 1/10th of your talent.

but you do need someone in the corner during the fight

if its the money...because i know some bigger gyms make you pay for a trainer...
find a smaller gym like the PAL...
because if i had to pay for a trainer, i wouldnt be boxing...unless he trained me one on one...

.....or you can find a trainer like Cus C'Amato and move in with him. Tyson didn't learn to bob and weave like that by accident.
