  • Just thought of something about custom mouthguards

another point that hasnt been brought up: especially for those of us who had braces in the past, it is possible for our teeth to shift as we age. Boil and bite guards have the option of reboiling if it holds its form enough the first time its boiled, while customguards do not.

    Is this an accurate assumption?

i just received my Pro model of the gladiator custom mouthguard. www.customguards.com

and i never thought of that you said.

who knows, maybe adult teeth change over a looong time. (1-3 years?).

by then the custom mouthpiece will need to be replaced.

but, replacing a standard boil-and-bite every few years doesn't sound good.

for boil-and-bite, i'd say every couple months.

How's the custom? Does it have breathing holes for clenched teeth at all?

fits perfectly, and you have to pull it out with some effort to take it out of your mouth.

breathing holes? i'm not sure, but i'm already used to breathing through my nose only, keeping my mouth shut at all times.

Good you got the custom. As far as teeth changing, replace the custom after at least one to two years use. Like I said, you may go your whole career with a cheap boil and bite without any injury. A pro I spar with has worn a cheap Shock Doc thru 18 pro fights and over 50 amateur fights. He has only been dropped once. But the guy can barely speak now. Years of head trauma and a bad mouthguard. The mouthguard is a shock absorber and is custom made to absorb shock and keep your brain safe. It is proven and printed in many medical articles.
