This is UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin's weight workout. Just wondering if you guys thought this would be an effective workout for boxers, it seems to be really tiring i mean 1500 reps in an hour of continuous work.

I don't see what good it'll do you. You won't get the best of strength gains, doing this, since you'll get too fatigued to lift the amount of weight you should. You won't get the best of conditioning, since it's not specific enough. For conditioning, sparring, heavybag, shadowboxing, intervals is much better.
Trying to be "smart" and targetting strength and conditioning at the same time, just shows that his "ex-marine coach" doesn't know what the **** he's talking about. He maybe tough, but not smart.
Edit: And what's with the isolation machines? Utterly ridiculous.

if u eva been fatigued in the ring( a real bout), u will know ur arms, legs and rest of ur body parts become like weights and become heavy.... the strength-endurance concept they work in ethat UFC clip is credible and a good training method. there are footballers(rugby, nfl, soccer), fighters, baseballers and athletes from alot of professions doing the same exercies and reaping the rewards, so does it sound ridiculous now?

Strength endurance is, of course, something you need to train, but I would NEVER let a fighter do it with weights, isolation exercises (is he gonna CURL his opponent?! jeez...), and machines. It can, and should be done using movements similar to your sport.
Strength endurance bicep curls? R I D I C U L O U S ! ! !
Edit: And believe me, I've been fatigued in more bouts than you can count on your fingers and toes!Last edited by PunchDrunk; 10-13-2006, 08:24 AM.

A huge part of fatigue is mental. What the modern guys lack, that the old guys had in spades, was mental strength and mental endurance. Jim Jeffries ran 10-15 miles a day and then continued on to his bag work, sparring, jump rope, etc. When he finished with that he played handball and went for a walk in the hills. Then he maybe played a game of cards and went to bed. He didn't play video games or go to the club for hours on end. Just nonstop work. That's how you turn someone into a real fighter, you need to harden and desensitize them to pain and fatigue.
I don't care what anyone says, nonstop strenous physical activity toughens you up mentally in a way that a more scientific method utilizing rests and brief periods of intense physical activity can't.
I will agree that the more scientific method builds muscle faster, and perhaps even trains physical stamina more effectively, but mentally you just won't be as hardened. The news ways are better training methods physically, but there is a psychological aspect that is neglected.
