everyone gets nervous , some ppl spew they get that nervous! but as soon as tht bell go's the butterflys will just fly off. make sure ya get the first round , just go out and box the **** out the boy , try and scare him , your first fight is your hardest fight , keep yer gloves up , elbows tucked in , and chin down , go for body shots , and if in doubt jab it out.
good luck and let us know how you get on.

Guilty. I thought I was doing fine -- I have my first fight on Saturday -- but I was giving my brother directions to the fight last night and suddenly felt really, overwhelmingly, scared. It was like someone had a huge safe marked FEAR and dropped it on me from five stories up. Sheer animal panic. Sweating, shaking, and knots in my stomach.

              "Dude, lemme call you back."

              Intense.

                Indeed.

As I've said. I threw up so bad before my first fight I almost changed weight division!

I was at a meet and greet In nj a few years ago with Teddy Atlas. A younger fighter asked the same question, His answere I heard him rehiterate later on a T.v. show He stated just keep in you mind that the other guy is just as nervous and afraid as you are. To look across the ring and know that he is just as afraid of you as you are him. He suposedly told Mike Tyson the same thing before his 8 second ko victory in the Jr. Olymics. I kept it in mind through out the days prior to a fight and leading up to it and it seemed to work for me.

I keep repeating to myself, "Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is being afraid and doing it, anyway."
