When you do bicycles you touch your left knee to your right elbow and then your right knee to your left elbow as if you are replicating the motion of riding a bike so, yes, you left your knees up to make contact with the elbow.
Hang from a chin bar and do leg raises, with or without bent knees. DON"T SWING BACK AND FORTH! Slow and steady. 3 sets of 5-10 reps every other day. Abs will be steel!
