  • Boxers in the MD/DC area

hey everyone im new to the whole boxing thing, i've been reading these forums for a while and working out at my house to get my stamina up and learning and studying some moves. I decided that i really wanna pursue boxing but am not sure which gym in the MD/DC area I should go to. The 2 that I have on my mind are the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Gym in MD and the Downtown Boxing Gym in DC. If someone could please help me with some info on how things are done it would be really appreciated thanks.

Go in and ask if you can stay and watch for a day to see how things are.

During the Summer I go to the Charm City Boxing gym in Baltimore, but once i join the UMD boxing club this semester we'll be practicing at Keely's Boxing Gym in DC.

well, I was there for a month and heres basically how the progression went:

                Week 1: Getting in shape

Week 2: Mitts, heavybag, speedbag, less running, jabs mostly

Week 3: Straight rights as well as jabs

Week 4: started doing uppercuts and hooks but they never really taught me how to do them. I guess its pretty straightforward, plus they were busy training Emmanuel and Andre for the DC mayors cup.

best bag gloves for the money: http://store.titleboxing.com/platbagglov.html

best bag gloves period are IMFtech gloves at ringside.com
