Wsup everyone.. I've been out for about 2-3 months due to a back injury from weightlifting.. I'm 19 and have been an athlete since the age of 4.. My middle/upper right side back pain is from the weightlifting injury and I've always had a small lower back problem (hurts when i stand for more than an hour or so). So recently I've visited a chiropractor. I've heard they work wonders for your back (supposedly). So i figured I'd try one. I've been going for about 3 weeks now and my back now feels worse. I've told him that I am experiencing new backpain and my pain is worsening. I've asked around but I can't find the answer I'm looking for.

Is it normal to be in more pain at first or is this completely out of the question? Have any of you seen a chiropractor? If so how was your experience? Thanks

I haven't seen one but stop weightlifting, do more bodyweight calisthenics, do ltos of stretching, and tons of lower back stretches and strength exercises.

I am blessed to have excellent medical insurance; a visit to my chiropractor costs me $10. I go every couple of months, and before I started this insanity I had him run a full battery of X-rays to make sure I was OK to box -- no bone spurs or deformities. (I had back & neck injuries at age 20 -- 15 years ago -- in a severe car accident that left me in intensive care.) I'm good to go. I worked with this chiropractor after my accident, and again later when I took up bodybuilding. I'm a firm believer in chiropractic care.

I cant comment on ur injury and wheather its will hurt more before it will get better. But i had a proper bad elbow injury and and every time i had physio it killed for a week after, i cud hardly move it. The woman kept telling me "oh its because uve had the injury for ages and it will get worst before it gets better". Maybe this was true but i went somewhere else because in the end i wasnt convinced. I now see someone else and am very happy with the results. My advise for what its worth wud be to give the guy a chance to do his job, ask him all the questions how long will it hurt for etc, when will the pain subside, if ur not happy in the end go and get a second opinion, it want hurt.Good luck.

If it's back pain then you should see a chiropractor. If it's just a weakened back that has to be strengthened, do what I posted.

I heard if you get a lower back injury, it'll never be 100% again, so be careful...

For lower back strength, my favorite are:

                Bird Dogs
                Superman
                Pelvic Tilts

And for lower back stretches, I do:

                Knee to Chest
                Good Mornings
                Hip Rotations

Stretching is as important as the strengthening, so don't neglect that.
