yup, your right, its in the blood once youve done it long enough.

I tried lifting weights for about 5 minutes. I set the weights to the ground, looked around at all of the muscle heads and said man this sucks.

I just shadowbox around the yard to stay in shape and go to the gym when I can to move around.

I still cant understand why guys will lift weights to get big and appear like badasses when they could just box and actually become a bad ass.

yeah, i go running, shadowbox and work the bag to stay in shape now. when i had to stop training for a lil while because of injuries, i missed it so much i couldn't wait to start again. now i'm in for life, even though i knew i couldn't become a pro like i'd wanted to, i'm still training, i'd miss it too much if i stopped

I don't box anymore, but I do lift weights. The reason I don't box is because I have really ****ing bad anxiety and didn't enjoy it, lol (i'm not a ***** in a street fight or most other sports, but the anticipation of a boxing match kills me for some reason), and when I did box I only had 1 fight which I won by a first round KO.. All my trainers said I was great power etc but I just said **** that I don't enjoy it . Plus most people really just lift weights for the girls

Because I hate team sprots when people shove their faces up the coaches ass. Plus boxing takes guts to get in the ring.

Dont get carried away thinking your some boxer. Grab a few fights and see if you feel the same again. Then you will know. For a kid who just started i think its too early to say boxing is for me. A lot of people think they like it but when it boils down to it boxing isnt for everyone.

If i have you confused with someone else though please let me know lol.
yeah man , it takes **** loads of guts to box , people dont think it till they get in the ring , nothing like sparring , theses guys aint gonna stop if ya get a big punch , there in this for the same reason as you , to try and outbox or ko you opponent (more out box in amature - gets stoped to quick)
boxing may not be for ya kid , you wont know till ya had a fight , you might get in there , get a fright and forget everything and take an ass whooping till the ref stops the fight and you may never want to box again, or you may go in there out box the **** out the boy and love the feeling of it and all that and fall in love with the sport. But it aint the boxing part that gets most people , its the time , work and dedication , its a ****ing hard sport , not like a football game where if you dont train for a week you can get away with playing , you do that in boxing and you will suffer you need to be training all the time, and it pays off. i dont think theres been one day went past in the last year where ive not been thinking about boxing and keeping fit.
anyways man i dont wanna scare ya from the sport lol , gd luck

Got into boxing through martial arts, which I started almost 13 years ago at age 16; the last 4 of which I've seriously been doing ring sports (boxing, kickboxing, etc).

I wanted to fight amateur and/or pro and open up my own gym- I like coaching too.

Bout a month ago my (ex)fiancee took off with my dog, to move to her uncle's place in Vegas for good. She really broke me down before she left, I guess to justify what she was doing.

Wasn't just heartbreak though, she tried to convince me that I was a bad guy and that it was my fault that she did what she was doing. She really got on me for my temper (which i never lost at her). All around she made me feel like garbage and had been treating me as such for quite some time.

                    Something inside me kinda snapped.

Since then I've only worked out at the boxing gym once. I don't really see the point anymore. I'd rather jog & lift to get in shape, get outta debt, learn to dance, and settle down with a wife, a kid, and a house.

I'm taking a vacation for a week starting this weekend. Gonna stay with my folks and hang out with this girl I've been talking to.

Gonna try to get back into the gym once I get back from vacation. It's kinda weird to suddenly not enjoy something that'd been my life, my happiness, and my dreams for quite some time.

Reading these posts kinda brings back memories of what I used to love. As someone said, you can't really explain it, it gets in your blood. Maybe it's the dream of being a champ, the thrill of competition, the empowering feeling of having discipline, or a combination of all of those. Whatever it is, it was definitely my passion in life, so I hope I can get some of that back.

I can imagine. Just the thought of it is almost nervewrecking to me.

I kind of decided that I was going to hole up in a 5-star hotel the night before with alot of dvds of fights and just zone out the whole night.
