  • Shadow boxing help

Hello, I need help. When shadow boxing or hitting the heavy bag, my feet often spread very wide and I lose balance. Is there any drills that will help me from getting my feet far apart? Maybe just jump roping more and plyometrics will help me control and coordinate my feet better?

Shadow box more and slower to start. Force your self to box one round at slow motion and focus on balance and proper technique before you try to look like sugar ray.

Get a string type thing and tie it around your ankles giving you just a little more than you need to remain in your ready position. Now shadow box.......Rockin'

Shadow box with a light resistance band around your ankles

What is probably happening is that every time you jab, you step into it by sliding your front foot forward, but you never move the other foot.
Get in front of a mirror where you can see your feet. When you are going forward, when you move your lead foot, move the other one the same distance. When going back, when you move your rear foot, move the other one the same distance.
Do it over and over again every day until you create the habit.
