Do you know what is the best thing to do as a beginner to perfect form? I'll tell ya, it's shadow boxing. But you must be mindfull in what your body is doing. Aswell, a trainer that knows what he is looking at/for is a must. Good luck when your bout rolls around. Proper preparedness is a must and can make what would have been a tough bout in to a much easier one (though truly few bouts will be easy). Make it easier with smart/hard work in the gym. Bust your ass every day that you train, but be smart about it..……...Rockin'

If you are focusing on other exercises, then its a good idea, but you must do it by using proper equipment, like boxing gloves for preventing the injury during training. You must also do a proper warm up before doing any kind of exercise.
