  • Chin up/Pull up bars

Anyone try or have one of those pull up bars that put in a doorway? I might go to Modells today and pick one up and I am curious about how easy they are to put in place and how they are at holding bodyweight.

I have one that doesn't screw in place. It has a curved piece at the top -- it rests on the door molding and your weight holds it in place. It's very cool. It's nice to be able to just jump up and crank out a few at any given moment. I probably do 20-25 per day, different grips, a few at a time.

I'd rather not have to screw it into place if i don't have to. What is the name of the brand that doesn't need to screw in?

I can't put it in my doorway because it'll break my door frame. But I made a homemade one which cost me about $5. I'll take a picture and post it up later.

Here you go. You can use whatever bar you need. I used the ones that are used for gas for heat for my house. But I suggest to use a thicker one so it works the grip strength more. Also make sure the bar is really tight. You can see there's scratches on the moldings because I had to fit it.

They hold your weight, but you can't do a decent pull-up because the top of the door frame is in the way.
