I like stepping forward into the punch on my jab. Then stepping forward and slightly to the left to cut an angle while throwing the right cross. This will sometimes leave me in a good position to deliver a good solid left hook to the body.

That same left hook when attempted by itself never lands because of the telegraph. The position my body is left in after throwing the jab/cross is very similar to big wound up left hook so naturally I used it to hide my telegraph.

I prefer to evade jabs with slips rather than pulling my head back. Pulling my head back creates a new centre of balance for my body to adjust to, even if it's just for a split second, in that time you're mostly useless. If you slip a jab you can still cut an angle, counter or press into your opponent.
