  • Deviated septum

Anyone here have a deviated septum that feels like it interferes with their breathing when training. I feel like I'm getting tired lot quicker than I usually would. The septum wernt to bad when it first went across but seems and looks like it's getting worse.

I had it pretty bad for a while when I was younger, had to get surgery in the end.

      I had it on my
Left side of my nose I stood orthodox. I found it slowly got better after I stopped boxing on a regular basis. It never went back to 100%. But it is something my coaches warned me about when I started. Most boxers get it on the side of their face that points towards their opponent. I have heard of surgery helping but I don’t know if it is effective when you continue to box afterwards.

Was it damaged before you’d started boxing?

Is it getting worse since boxing?

If the answers are no and yes and you’re only boxing as a hobby maybe getting a nose protector headgear is the answer.

My nose was pretty messed up before I started - it bends in at least two directions and internally there’s some collapsing.

I only do light sparring but decided it couldn’t get much worse! So only got a cheek protector headgear.

If I ever have corrective surgery (for breathing I’m not arsed about aesthetics) and I’m still boxing I’d get the nose protector headgear...

I think it was out of place a little before I started from fighting but since boxing it's got worse. I'm thinking of leaving it unless it gets really bad as I plan to continue boxing

I have it. Can only breathe properly from one nostril. Looked into getting it fixed but was advised that it's kind of pointless unless you are going to stop boxing altogether

I've always struggled breathing through my nose and the left nostril is just never fully open for me. I like the mouth pieces with the breathing holes in the middle. I can stay clamped on the mouth piece and still breath through my mouth if needed. Pretty sweet invention. I know a lot of coaches insist on only breathing though the nose, but its just not possible for some. I see plenty of pro's boxing with their mouth open as well

                Same exact thing with me.

                  I'm not a doctor.

I think it happened to me twice. If someone in the street
pops me in the face with out wraps and gloves. There's a
good chance they'll break there hand. I WONT BLINK!

It all matters on the shape and size of your nose.

This one's a doozy. I forgot all about it.

I walked into the ENT and he says. You experienced trauma
and you need surgery. When I walked in I wasn't complaining
                    about that.

I just stood there and watched.
