Cleto Reyes Extra Padding Hand Compartment

I have a pair of the regular Cleto Reyes Training gloves (velcro) in 14oz. I am interested in getting a pair of the extra padded version and was wondering if the hand compartment size is similar to the regular training model? For me, the regular training model in 16oz is a bit too wide. However, i don't want to order 14oz in the extra padded if they run tighter. I don't spar and only hit bags/mitts.

    Thanks for your help!

Are the regular not working out for you?

Does it have to be cleto? They aren't known for their training gloves. Their fight gloves are excellent but I've heard that even their extra padded gloves are unforgiving.

Thanks for the responses. Nothing wrong with the regular training pair I have now, they're working out fine. I was just thinking of getting a second pair to rotate around and instead of getting another "regular" pair, I was thinking of trying the extra padded.

I've pretty much heard the same.

16 oz's are used for sparring. I don't understand 'extra padded'. 14 oz's can be good but I never train in them. Used to many years ago just for bag work.

Hmmm, I always understood that the whole point of Cleto was that they, be design, deliberately took padding away from the knuckles / hand area and transferred it to the wrist area.

Hence the 'punchers' glove...plus that odd wrist placement to emphasize hooking.

Not sure I would use Cleto for training on the bag's, given their whole philosophy is about removing padding to allow for more damage to an opponent.

I've only owned the sparring 16's (lace-ups) - but from memory the velcro 16's felt the same when I put them on.

One thing I can say is that over time / use you'll work them in and they because more comfortable, although the relative lack of padding on the knuckles will always remain.

Re. the hand compartment size, isn't that pretty consistent across both 16's training (velcro) and regular (lace up) because your supposed to use that additional space for additional taping.
