    Bending at the waist

What exactly does bending at the waist in your boxing stance mean? Is it as simple as pushing your ass out and bending knees like a squat? Should you lean forward, or keep your back straight and Chestup, neutral posture. Give me an in depth breakdown of this along with proper posture, body position. Also, is it recommended to bend at the waist or another way when boxing?

U can bend ay the waist all u want but real defense starts at the legs. Your core is where u want to bend and your core starts at the hamstrings to about the bottom/front rib cage.

Ok, so basically bend at the hips and hamstrings rather than the waist?

Its hard to explain in writing but practice doing A LOT of body weight squats. I like to have my kids squat in front of a heavy bag and as you power up, swing from the core. U can squat squared or from a fighting stance.

Id suggest doing this 3 days aweek along with footwork drills. Once you stamina increases add a light weighted vest.

U will see a huge difference in your ability to turn punches. Changes levels will get much easier and so will ur ability to get hit and hit back.

I'm not familiar with a need to bend at the waist. Usually, your legs are controlling your verticality and you keep your upper-body centered to avoid being off balance, getting uppercutted, etc. Sometimes, you will bend at the hips to get range (body jab in particular). Just remember, if you are bent at the waist you can't engage your core and will be compromised in many ways. Your core needs to be able to twist, flex, etc. When it's bent, that becomes a problem.

Use your legs to duk and your body to move your head if it's necessary. Take a step to the side with the defensive move and dig that SOB. Duk straight down from your waist and you will soon be eating leather. Or whatever they are making gloves out of today……...Rockin'

Will try this. Do you possibly know of any videos that explains this? If so, could you send a link? I can’t find any
