is 19-20 too old to start boxing, and get a career out of boxing?
Earnie Shavers started boxing when he was 22 and he had a great career. Had his first amateur bout 2 weeks after starting and won by a 1st round KO. Went on to have a good career.
Not everyone has the power of Shavers but if you have the will to train hard and give it all you've got then 19 isn't too old at all.

Most good, successful pros starts in there mid teens or earlier. There have been stfighter who got late starts and did very well and made a lot of money. Jameel Mccline had one amateur fight at 25 then turned pro. He`s done pretty well for himself. RonLyle didn`t have an amateur fight til he was 28 I think, turned pro at 30, and had an excellent career. But these guys are the exception to the rule.

I wouldn't because it will most likely slow you down. It may be that you're too slight to be a HW and too tall to be successful in another weight class. That would be unfortunate, but you'll only know once you get down the gym and see what its all about.

I'm 6' 1" and 175lbs but If I was to box I'd have to get down to 154-160 to fit my athletic build. Most guys at CW&HW are naturally big guys with power that I'd struggle to get regardless of putting on bulging muscle.

        RJJ is obviously an exception!

I agree here, my brother is 6'6 and weighs 210lbs, he struggled from the start against real HW's as although he had the height he did not have the natural strength and was pushed around and man handled quite easily (He ended up in Kenju Karate and did well)
At 19/20 you still have yet to develop your full physique and will become stronger into your early 20's so good luck!
