    Moving from lightweight to heavyweight

    19 yo 5 ft 10

Plan is to bulk up and jump weights. When I'm older I aim to be heavyweight. This depends on whether I grow any more before 20-21

By this time next year I'm aiming to be around 13 stone initially. Fully natural bulk.

    I'm fighting at lightweight atm

Anyone who has gone through this?

You better be knocking lightweights out with one punch to do any harm to Heavy Weights

I'd reccomend rethinking that. I've gone from where I compete at light heavyweight to heavyweight a few times and even that is alot. Muscle gained from lifting weights probably wont equal being a harder puncher, but that big a difference will likely make you slower. Also, everyone will have a reach advantage over you. I love when I get in the ring with a guy I have 6 inches height on, who has a chiseled body and massive arms, it's basically a free win where I dont even have to get hit. If you decide to do it anyways let us know how it goes. As far as my experience doing it, I only need to gain 20 lbs to go up a class , but doing that without getting fat (naturally) includes eating well past being full many times a day, alot of protein and weights, and alot of time. Because it's so much work and I dont feel like I gain any boxing advantage from it, now if I want to fight a class heavier, I eat a big meal before I hit the scale, drink alot of water, and weight in about 15 lbs less than my opponent who had to cut 5+ lbs water to make weight.

Foolish to "plan to" become a certain weight some day. You have a lot to learn. In boxing, you play to your advantages. It's not an RPG where you build a character.

Why the goal of gaining so much weight? You're likely too young to gain that much weight in a healthy manner. As you age the weight will come more naturally but I'll tell you what: I'm at 185 now and wish I was 160 again.

Thanks for the responses. I punch hard for my weight and the guys I have fought are smaller than me. I think I'm too light for my height.

At you age Holyfield weighed 147 pounds, so it is doable, you'll naturally grow heavier in the next few years, your body is still growing in many ways.
