My friend is 17 and started boxing recently. He is gaining weight ever since starting boxing, but says he isnt eating extra. He is of a normal teenagers build. Why is this? Thanks in advance

Perhaps he is still growing; the average American male reaches maximum height at @ age 18; some men continue growing taller until 20-21 or even later in extremely rare cases.
Additionally, if he has never trained before, it is possible that he is adding muscle as a result of the training; if you could describe the training it would be easy to know whether this is likely to be the case.
