  • Gaining weight from Boxing

My friend is 17 and started boxing recently. He is gaining weight ever since starting boxing, but says he isnt eating extra. He is of a normal teenagers build. Why is this? Thanks in advance

Perhaps he is still growing; the average American male reaches maximum height at @ age 18; some men continue growing taller until 20-21 or even later in extremely rare cases.

Additionally, if he has never trained before, it is possible that he is adding muscle as a result of the training; if you could describe the training it would be easy to know whether this is likely to be the case.

Thanks. in boxing sessions We mainly do partner drills, and some conditioning work, usually bodyweight like pushups but somrtimes things like med ball throws. We do a lot of circuits and We also go for runs.

Most likely this. Burning off fat and adding muscle may result in weight gain...
