Thats What Im thinking man, Its a lot on technique and even if you spent your whole life trying to make your body look like tyson it still wont work because of your genetics. You may not be visually strong, but your strong still. say this example: Some small guy is getting pushed around by some fathead that thinks he's a big shot and does all the rowing and weights. They get into a fight, If the small guy isn't powerful but KNOWS HOW to throw a punch the other guy will get smashed, (Unless this guy is on steriods or also knows how to fight) If you knock them down because you hit them well because of your technique well then its gonna make you look like your strong. (Kostya said this many times in his biography that lots of his punches weren't all that powerful, just well thrown and timed)

That being said you will need some strength but your body build. look will be based on genetics and will not play a big factor
But the amount of explosiveness, and thereby speed of your punches, depends greatly on genetics. Even technique and timing has to do with genetics. Obviously training will make you better, but only to a point. No amount of training in the world would ever take a guy like Micky Ward to Floyd's level, technique and timing wise. Because it's in Floyd's genes, and not in Ward's.
Also, some guys have good timing, but are just so featherfisted, that they rarely knock people out.

Your build DOES matter a LOT. The best KO fighter I ever had, was also the least technically proficient. He was built like a 141 lbs Tyson, and just knocked people out. He'd literally look into the floor and just swing. His compact build, and the make up of his muscles (mostly fast twitch fibres) just made him that powerful.

alright man that sounds right, I'll take that you obivously know more than me and know your stuff, but I still believe that to a degree that if someones bulky and someones lean it wont make much differance. Karma man

The size and shape of the body doesn't matter much, since boxing is by weight, but the attributes of individual bodies vary a lot. Some stocky guys are just too slow, and some skinny guys lack strength. Anyway, everyone has to deal with the hand they are dealt, so no use worrying about it.
