Can light sparring punches lead to brain damage?

Had my first spar today and got whooped but the punches to the head were light. Has anyone ever had mental decline from sparring punches?

"Light" sparring is a goal, but not a guaranteed result. I've busted people's noses and accidentally hurt them in light sparring because you can't control if someone is going to be ready for, or move into your punch.
If you're concerned about damage, don't spar, or only do it with trusted partners, on rare occasions.

I used to notice a cloudiness to my thoughts for a couple days after sparring. Kinda like the haze you get from smoking weed regularly. Yours thoughts just aren't as fast and wise. As someone who run a biz and has to be mentally sharp, it wasn't worth it for me so I stopped, even though I love it. After some time away I got sharp again.

I've come to the conclusion that the head was just not meant to take blows of any kind. You may not think you've been hurt at all and feel fine...but 15-20 years later you make a cup of coffee and can't remember if you just put sugar in the cup or not.

So do you stay away from boxing and altercation at this point? I was just gonna get started

I'm older now so boxing is like 20 years ago...altercations have always been on a must do no choice basis for me.

Just be aware that if you getting hit in the head it's not a good thing for you.
