Thanks for all the tips. I think I may be squaring up too much when in close and at the same time lifting my elbows too high. But you gotta open up some to get some combo’s off right? I hate to just sit back and pot shot from the outside especially in sparring. I’m better at outside longer range fighting and need to work on my inside game anyway. Gonna work on my guard this week and see what I can adjust then back in for sparring on Friday. Maybe I’ll get a video up.

Definitely put a video up. You'll get better feedback if the fellas can see what's going on. It'll be "I see this going on" rather than "it might be this, it might be that"

Keep your head up... Actually, your chin tucked and elbows in

You really shouldn't open up very much on the inside, your guard just moves from in front of the face to more of the side. If you are all the way in you should keep your head off to one side of their shoulder. Keep the elbows tucked still until you fire and then bring them immediately back to guard.

If you have a coach/training partner, have them inform you anytime they see your elbows come up. My coach would hit me in the ribs with a training stick anytime my elbows flared up until I corrected the problem.
